What Eid al-Fitr Marks 🕌

Eid al-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast, falls on the first day of Shawwal, the month after Ramadan in the Islamic calendar. Because the calendar is lunar, the day begins only when the new crescent is sighted, which is why the date can differ by a day between countries. The night of the sighting is Chand Raat in India and Pakistan, a night of shopping, bangles and mehndi.

The day starts with the Eid prayer in a mosque or an open Eidgah. Before it, families pay Zakat al-Fitr (fitra), a charity for the poor, and many follow the Prophet's practice of eating a few dates first. Then come new clothes, visits to relatives, Eidi for the children, and bowls of sheer khurma and seviyan. Eid al-Fitr is different from Eid al-Adha (Bakrid), which comes about two months later. See every 2027 date in our Indian festival calendar.

What is a good caption for Eid?
Match the caption to the photo: Eid namaz done, now the photos for a morning selfie, Dates first, then everything else for food, or Our home, our people, our Eid for a family photo.
What is a short caption for Eid?
Try Faith, family, feast, Crescent spotted, smiles unlocked, or New clothes, clean heart. Short lines work best on stories and Reels.
Which Quran verse can I use in an Eid caption?
Quran 2:185 is the verse most tied to Eid al-Fitr, as it speaks of completing the fast and glorifying Allah. Short options like 94:6, Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease, also fit well. Always add the surah and verse number.
What do you post on Chand Raat?
Post a moon photo, your mehndi or the bazaar lights with a line like The moon is out, Eid is in, or Chand Raat: bangles, mehndi and zero sleep.
Is it okay to use funny Eid captions?
Yes, as long as the joke is about food, relatives, Eidi or sleep and never about the faith, the prayer or the Quran.
When is Eid al-Fitr 2027?
Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected on Tuesday, 9 March or Wednesday, 10 March. The exact day depends on the sighting of the Shawwal moon in your country.
